VINTAGE CHINESE CARVED CINNABAR CLOISONNE ENAMEL ELEPHANT PENDANT NECKLACE

Vanishing artistry!
Rare and becoming extinct.
The beautiful elephant pendant that form this necklace,
was made by 2 different types of artists in old China.
1st came the artists who carved the Cinnabar which was then transferred
to the cloisonne artist who embedded the lovely flower enamel
work into the pendant.
There are 8 steps to forming the enamel work (please look at my bead forming picture, it's the same process).So together with the Cinnabar work (at least 3 steps)-it takes 12 steps to create this
work of art.
This type of art was passed on from generation to generation.
In  China of our days, the young generation is no longer interested in this kind of
work, but as you can imagin, prefer hi-tech.
So what remains are the items that are circulating in the market and those
are now collectors items.
This stunning black cord necklace is 34" long with a lovely, typical Chinese knot  design .
The pendant is 2 sided, inlaid with cloisonne work
