Vintage 1930's Jantzen Women's Wool Swimsuit, Diving Girl Logo, MAKE OFFER!

Description

This is a vintage Jantzen one-piece women's bathing or swim suit, with early appliqued diving girl logo above the left leghole. I believe it to be from around the 1930's. An inside label, attached to a wide fabric inner front, reads Jantzen, Made in U.S.A., Reg. U.S. Pat. Off, Size 40. Label also indicates it was sold by the department store Miller Bros. Co., Chattanooga (Tennessee).  The suit is in overall good condition but has several holes. I believe the body of the dark red wine suit is 100% wool, knit in a fine rib pattern and slightly stretchy. It has seams underneath the bust and bands around the leg holes. Tan straps have the appearance of natural jute twine but I believe they are also wool, knitted in a tube. The straps thread through three short casings around the scooped back, cross the shoulders and enter a long casing on top of the the bust, where they become decorative but strong trim. Laid flat the suit measures 14.5" armhole to armhole. Top of shoulder strap to bottom edge of leg measures about 30".
