This listing is for original playing card game, in its original box, undated, circa 1890. Box measures approx 4"x3"x1/2" high (small).
"Snap. Play Cuckoo for Fun. J. H. Singer, New York, USA
Included are 16 flexible cardboard playing cards with 7 pairs which show an alligator, a dog, a boys mouth, scissors, a fish, a crab & a rat.
There are also single cards of a devil and one of a chicken, for the total of 16 cards. For their age, the cards are in relatively fair condition with some age spotting, light edge wear and soiling. One of the rat cards has a center bend, and two other cards have small bends.
We believe that it is missing some cards, but are not sure which.
There are no instructions, so we are not sure if this is a scary game as a couple of the cards look to us.
The box lid has antique wear to the edges & corners; soiling; and the right apron is partly crushed & indented while the corners are intact. The lower box has antique wear such as missing the right side, 2 split corners, edge wear, small loss of edges of paper cover, and pencil handwriting and scribbles on the underside.
